Four of a family found dead in Tripura

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, Nov 23 - Four members of a family, including two children, were found dead at a remote village in West Tripura district. It is suspected that Paresh Tanti (32) and his wife, Sandhya (28), had poisoned their two children Bishal (9) and Rupali (5) before committing suicide at Sannyasi Tilla area last night. Their bodies were found hanging from a tree near their house.

Sources said that the couple was in a disturbed state for not being able to pay instalments of a loan they had taken from the Bandhan Bank.

The family was literally finding it difficult to make both ends meet and was neck-deep in debt. It is believed that they had taken this extreme step due to depression.

As the news spread like wildfire this morning, police personnel from the Sidhai Police Station reached the spot and sent the bodies to the Mohanpur Hospital for post-mortem examination.

It appears that Paresh, a vegetable vendor, had taken a loan of Rs 1 lakh from Bandhan Bank to purchase a piece of land at Sonai about a month ago. He, however, has not received the papers of the land yet, SP of West Tripura district Manik Das said today.

Das said that it seems Paresh was depressed over repayment of the loan amount and this might have prompted him to take the extreme step.

A thorough inquiry has been initiated to unearth the actual cause of the deaths, the SP added.
