Four more virus deaths in Manipur

IMPHAL, Sept 10 - In the last 24 hours, four persons, including two men aged 46 years and 68 years from Imphal East district, a 74-year-old woman from Imphal West district and a 42-year-old Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel have died of COVID-19 in Manipur. The first three persons passed away at the JNIMS and the RIMS, while the CAPF personnel expired at the Churachandpur district hospital. The cumulative number of deaths in Manipur has now climbed to 44.

Meanwhile, with 245 new recoveries reported from eight COVID care facilities in the past 24 hours, the recovery rate of Manipur mounted to 77.55 per cent on Thursday.

So far, 5,793 out of the total 7,470 COVID-19 positive cases have recovered and been discharged from various COVID care centres in the State.

Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director of the State Health Department, in a press release on Thursday said, �Eighty-two persons, including 23 females from the general population and 26 from the CAPFs were confirmed positive cases in the past 24 hours in Manipur.� They are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, Kakching, Jiribam, Thoubal and Ukhrul, the release added. Among the civilians, eight are returnees from other States, while the rest 74 are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to COVID care facilities.

In the past 24 hours, 245 persons were also discharged from eight COVID care facilities in the State.

As of Thursday, 3,58,299 persons were screened at various entry points of the State, while 1,83,083 individuals were tested for COVID-19 at various testing centres in the State, official sources said.
