NORTH LAKHIMPUR, May 10 - In a tragic road accident, four persons, including a child lost their lives at 12th Mile, 18 km west of North Lakhimpur on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred on NH-15 when a Tata Winger van (AS03-3206) carrying a Bihu troupe collided head-on with a gearless two-wheeler (AS07F-8481), killing the rider Papu Saikia (26) on the spot. Then the vehicle knocked down three more persons, including two children, before turning turtle.

The injured were rushed to North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital where the driver of the Winger Pradeep Borah (35) succumbed to his injuries. Later, two other persons, Minati Debnath (40) and Jaidev (8) also died at the hospital.

Blood donation

JAGIROAD, May 10 - The Lions Club of Jagiroad is organising a blood donation camp at the Nizarapar-based Lions Service Centre here on May 15.

Referring to the tag line, �Donate Blood to Save Life�, Lions Club member Atanu P Borah appealed to the public to make the camp a success by their valued participation. The blood donation camp is scheduled to begin from 9 am. � Correspondent
