IMPHAL, Sept 29 - At least four persons died while three others sustained injuries when a car hit a roadside tree near Koirengei Old Airfield along the Imphal-Dimapur Highway under Heingang Police Station at around 4.30 pm on Monday.
According to a police source, the mishap occurred as the driver of the car, heading towards Imphal from Awang Sekmai, lost control. While three persons died on the spot, another succumbed to injuries at a private healthcare centre in Imphal.
Three others, including the driver of the car, are undergoing treatment in critical conditions at the health centre.
All the deceased, as well as the injured victims, were travelling in the same car. The identities of those dead are yet to be established.
