MANGALDAI, June 25 - Four members of an organised inter-district gang of notorious criminals who were involved in a series of criminal activities including theft, lifting of batteries of mobile towers etc., were nabbed red handed by Darrang police.

According to the Superintendent of Police, Darrang, Sreejith Thiraviam, a night patrolling team of police from Pothorughat Police out post under Sipajhar Police Station, apprehended four persons identified as Jahidul Islam, son of Hasen Ali of village Kalatoli 2, Abdul Selim, son of Rahman Ali of village Chauradia, Moin Ali, son of Naushad Ali of village Kuirapara (all under Boko Police Station in Kamrup (Rural) district and Saiful Islam, son of Abdullah of village Anduparra under Hajo Police Station of the same district while 24 mobile tower batteries were recovered from their possession in a Bolero Pickup van bearing registration number AS 25 CC 2980 in which they were travelling. The accused persons had stolen the batteries (Airtel tower) from Dighirpar Bathobari village in Sipajhar Police Station area.
