Four bodies recovered in Jorhat house

JORHAT, June 11 � Jorhat police today recovered four corpses from the house of one Manju Phukan at Ramkrishna Nagar, Lichubari here this afternoon.

Manju Phukan (38), a widow, her son Abinash Phukan (17) and her daughter Anindita Phukan (14) were brutally murdered with blows of sharp weapons at their own residence last night.

On the other hand the body of one Firajul Haque Saikia of Hajo was also found hanging from the ceiling fan of the house. Police suspect Firajul slaughtered the trio before committing suicide.

Manju�s husband Dilip Phukan, a former employee of the Agriculture Department died some three years ago. She received the job of the Junior Assistant in the department only on June 6 on compassionate ground. Her son Abinash was a student of class 12 in Luit Valley Academy Junior College of Jorhat and daughter Anindita was a Class VIII student in Carmel School, also of Jorhat.

According to a source, Firajul often used to visit Manju after the death of her husband.

When contacted, Jorhat SP Sanyukta Parashar informed this correspondent that investigation is going on to unveil the motive behind the murders. She added that local people heard a shriek about 2 am last night coming out from the house.

Police also recovered the body of the slaughtered dog of Manju inside her house.
