SIVASAGAR, Dec 1 - Topon Kumar Gogoi, MP Jorhat, laid the foundation stone of the Rs 2.6 crore Moribeel Water Sports Project in Sivasagar town recently fulfilling a long cherished dream of water sports lovers of the district.�
Speaking on the occasion Gogoi said that the fund released under CRDF will help building basic infrastructure in the district traditionally known for sports and games since the Ahom era. Adding he said that the Central Government�s Rs 500 crore Iconic Site project to� Sivasagar will enhance tourism prospect of which sports tourism will be a part.�
Dhananjay Saikia, president, Sivasagar Rowing and Boating Club delivered the welcome address. The function was attended by Arjun Bhugeswar Barua, DC Sivasagar Lakhinandan Gogoi, Dr Soumerjyoti Mahanta, Kakhikanta Mahanta, Punaram Mili , Al Ajhar Ali, ADC, Sivasagar among others.
