Foundation of two tea garden schools laid in Biswanath dist

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Nov 2 - State Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone of two high schools on Sunday in two tea gardens of Biswanath district. The tea gardens are Sakomatha Tea Estate and Pratapgarh Tea Estate.

It may be mentioned here that the Education department of the State has decided to set up 119 high schools with the aim of promoting higher education in tea gardens in the State. After laying the foundation stone,

he addressed a public gathering.

Addressing the gathering, Sarma said that the process of education in these schools would start next year and these students would be able to appear for the high school leaving examination (HSLC) in the year 2023. Subsequently, the higher secondary streams will also be opened in these schools.

He further announced that ten per cent of the seats in the adjacent colleges would be reserved for the students coming from the tea garden schools. He also mentioned in detail the developmental works being carried out by the State government in the tea garden areas.

Textile and Handloom Minister Ranjit Dutta, MP Pallav Lochan Das, local MLAs, BJP president of Biswanath district Diganta Ghatowar and others were present in both the programmes.
