Foundation of Tinsukia Medical College laid

TINSUKIA, Jan 7 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of the Tinsukia Medical College after performing �bhumi pujan� at Sukanpukhuri near Makum today.

Terming the day as a remarkable and historical one for the people of Tinsukia district as well as for the State, Sonowal stated that the college would change the academic atmosphere of the district as it would inspire the upcoming generation of the district to pursue medical science. Speaking in the meeting held on the occasion, Sonowal also added hat the institute would improve the socio-economic status of the area. He also stated that the people of Tinsukia district and nearby places including the nearby districts of Arunachal Pradesh would also get better medical facilities at their doorsteps.

The Chief Minister informed that Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was making all efforts to develop the socio-economic status of the State on all fronts and was taking all measures for the welfare of the people especially the rural people.

The Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital will be built on a plot of land measuring 38.50 acres with a fund of Rs 350 crore to be funded by the Assam Infrastructure Financing Authority and is expected to be completed within the next three years. The programme was also attended and addressed by the Health Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, MP Dibrugarh, Rameshwer Teli, MLA, Tinsukia, Sanjay Kishan, Principal Secretary, Dept of Health & FW, Assam, Samir Kumar Sinha, Deputy Commissioner, Tinsukia, Oinam Sarankumar Singh and many other dignitaries.
