MANGALDAI, Aug 21 - Mangaldai Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia in presence of Mangaldai Legislator Gurujyoti Das, Darrang Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah on Friday ceremonially laid the foundation of the Rs 10 crore multi-sports complex under Centrally-sponsored �Signature Project� here at Sonalipam, ward no. 7.
The project which will be implemented by State PWD includes an international standard football ground with double-storied two covered pavilions and three other open pavilions with a capacity of 10000 crowd besides other sporting provisions.
Saikia, in his address, hoped that it will be completed before April next year and once it is completed the long-standing dream of the people of greater Mangaldai for a modern multi-sports complex will be fulfilled.
Sports organisers Dr Amarendra Narayan Deb and Pratap Bordoloi also spoke on the occasion, among others.
