Foundation of Pratima Barua Pandey cultural centre laid

GAURIPUR, April 19 - In an auspicious occasion held at the historic Mahamaya Playground, Hagrama Mahilary, BTAD Chief laid the foundation stone of the Pratima Barua Pandey, the famous Goalpariya folk singer cultural centre at Gauripur.

In his speech, Mahilary sought the active participation of the people of Gauripur in implementing the scheme of construction of the cultural centre so that the young learners of Goalpariya folk songs could be benefited. An amount of Rs one crore has been sanctioned from the Prime Minister Special fund for construction of the cultural centre in a plot of land provided by the Mahamaya Temple Management Committee in the east -south corner of the Mahamaya field. In the meeting he also announced Rs 5 lakh for development of the Mahamaya Temple complex.

The meeting was attended by Banendra Kumar Mushahary, ex-MLA and a large number of dignitaries including Prof Ganga Sankar Pandey, Prabir Kumar Barua, Secretary, Mahamaya Temple Development Committee and a few others.
