GUWAHATI, Feb 5 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today laid the foundation stone of the new State Assembly complex near the State Secretariat.
The construction work of the complex has been planned at a cost of Rs 234.84 crore. The entire project has to be constructed over a plot of land of 30.04 bighas, which would consist of five blocks, which include the State Legislative Assembly building, two annexure buildings, a multi-level car parking to accommodate around 286 cars and a service building.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was presided over by Speaker of the Assam Assembly Tanka Bahadur Rai. Leaders of the ruling party and the Opposition were also present on the occasion.
