JONAI, Nov 2 - The foundation stone of a model community hall sanctioned under MP�s local area development fund was laid on Saturday at Natun Jelom village in Jonai (ST) Constituency, which has been adopted under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) Scheme.
The community hall worth Rs 18.8 lakh is first developmental initiative of Lakhimpur MP-cum-Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sarbananda Sonowal, in the model village adopted by him.
The Union Minister announced the scheme during his visit to the village early this month. He also announced three other construction schemes for the village, including construction of a multipurpose hall and renovation of two LP schools.
Laying the foundation stone of much hyped community hall on Saturday, new Jelom Gaonburah, Gagan Tayeng, sought participation of all sections of the people for development of the model village. He was optimistic that proper implementation of SAGY schemes would boost living standard of the villagers. He requested the construction committee members to strictly monitor and ensure quality works.
