Foundation of indoor stadium laid

SHILLONG, Dec 9 - Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today laid the foundation stone of a Rs 22-crore indoor stadium at Jongksha in East Khasi Hills district.

The proposed stadium will have all modern amenities. During the foundation stone laying ceremony, Sangma stressed the need to groom the sporting talents of the State.

�We have immense talent in our State. However, due to lack of infrastructure and guidance, the youth are not able to unleash their full potential. This Government is working with a direction to ensure that the youth of our State are given a platform to upscale their skills,� the Chief Minister said.

Sangma underlined the Government�s commitment towards the welfare of youth and said it is working in a systematic manner to leverage the sporting infrastructure.

The Chief Minister also felicitated some youths for excelling in regional, State-level and national games during the past years.

Sangma also announced that the PHC at Jongksha would be upgraded to a CHC and the link road, which has been lying in a poor shape, would be developed.
