Foundation of Badarpur engineering college laid

BADARPUR, March 2 � If the Congress wins the next Assembly polls, the all-round development of the entire Karimganj district will surely take place. This was promised by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, on Monday morning while addressing a public meeting at Malua here. He laid the foundation stone of the Barak Valley Engineering College in Karimganj district, which was proposed by the Assam Government officially.

Gogoi said, �the all-round development of the entire Karimganj district totally depend on the Congress win. Along with all other Assembly seats in the Barak Valley, the five LAC seats in Karimganj district must have to be captured by the Congress otherwise, no development will take place in this district.�

In the presence of a huge gathering of all sections of people, the Chief Minister appealed to the people of Karimganj district to vote in favour of the Congress in the ensuing Assembly election in the greater interest of the all-round development of the district. Gogoi said that for the development of the entire Barak Valley, a special-package of Rs 1000 crore has also been proposed to the Prime Minister of India from which a big amount will be spent for the development of Karimganj district.

Earlier, the welcome address was given by the Karimganj Deputy Commissioner Jiten Bargowari who presided over the meeting. Bargowari, in his address, explained the significance of the meeting and narrated the history of the entire picture of the development related to Karimganj district.

Stress was given on the development of education, health, communication, drinking water, electricity and solution of other major problems of the district in the CM�s address. The meeting was attended and addressed by Minister Gautam Roy, MLA Mission Ranjan Das, Parliamentary secretaries Ajit Sing and Siddek Ahmed, ex-Ministers, Abusaleh Najmuddin and Muktadir Choudhuree, ex-MLA- Jamal Uddin, DCC-president Satu Roy, Karimganj ZP- president Mantaj Ali among others.

It may be noted her that during the CM�s meeting, a large number of agitating Congressmen created disturbances, shouting slogans, but the police immediately brought the situation under control. Talking to this correspondent the Chief Minister said, �another milestone has been added in the education world through the laying of the foundation stone of the Barak Valley Engineering College at Badarpur (Malua) which will benefit the students of the region.
