Foundation of 10-bed rural hospital laid

UDALGURI, Nov 5 � Continuing its untiring efforts to each out to the people of the district, the Kargil Gunners organised a unique medical camp in the remote Indo-Bhutan border village of Bandarguri in Udalguri district on November 3 last. Apart from the medical camp, the Red Horn Gunners on the occasion also laid the foundation stone of �Ten Bed Hospital� with a foundation stone laying ceremony which is being constructed under the banner of �Op Sadbhavana�. The provision of the Ten Bed Ward by the Army will upgrade the existing facilities at the State Dispensary at Bandarguri village and lend much needed solace to the people of the area for whom the nearest hospital is presently available at Udalguri.

The occasion was presided over by the Commander, Red Horn Gunners while the local MLA Rihon Daimari, Thaneshwar Malakar, the DC, Udalguri district, Debajit Deori, the SP of the district and a host of dignitaries from the district administration, security forces and social and student organisations attended the foundation stone laying ceremony. The locals expressed great relief at the availability of such a facility in this remote border village and thanked the Army and the district administration for providing the same.

The day-long medical camp which was organised by the Kargil Gunners attracted locals in large numbers and beside the army doctors health department officials of the district also played an active part in providing treatment to the patients who availed the medical camp facility on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commander, Red Horn Gunners reiterated the commitment of the Army in reaching out to the people by its various activities under the banner of Op Sadbhavana. He said out that the Red Horn Gunners would strive to reach out to the remotest parts of the district and ensure that facilities that contribute to upliftment of the local population would continue to be provided. At the same time, he brought out the importance of community participation in ensuring that the facilities so created be utilised to the hilt and invited ideas from the people in suggesting as to how the Army could reach out and touch the local�s lives. On the occasion, the local villagers also provided a glimpse into the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the state by presenting a cultural programme.
