GUWAHATI, May 1 - The foundation stone of the two-storey RCC office building of the Panjabari Senior Citizens� Association was laid yesterday by Dalbahadur Chetry, president of the association, in presence of a large gathering.

Speaking on the occasion, senior journalist and founder office-bearer of the association DN Chakravartty recalled the contributions of over 40 dedicated senior citizens who were no longer alive to see the fruits of their dedicated service in the establishment and development of the association.

Madhav Barthakur, member in charge of social service, welcomed the guests.

The building has been taken up with a financial assistance of Rs 10 crore offered by Dr Manmohan Singh from his MPLAD fund.

The association had received Rs 2 lakh from Kumar Dipak Das and Rs 1 lakh from Bijoya Chakravartty from their MPLAD funds, which had been utilised for construction of a boundary wall and for other preliminary work.
