Foundation day of GU community radio service

JALUKBARI, March 2 - The 7th foundation day of Radio Luit, 90.8 FM, the Community Radio Service of Gauhati University, was observed here with a two-day programme on February 28 and March 1. The two-day programme �Porikroma, 2017� was celebrated at the BKB Auditorium and the GU Stadium with enthusiasm.

A listeners� meet was organised on the occasion at the BKB Auditorium on February 28, followed by an art competition organised by the Borluit, a socio-cultural organisation in association with Radio Luit at the GU Stadium. A blood donation camp was also organised at the stadium for creating awareness about the importance of blood donation. A large number of people donated blood in the camp.

The occasion also witnessed the screening of an Assamese movie Nadi Mathu Boi at the GU Stadium by Aaideo Talkies, a prominent mobile cinema network of Assam. The listeners� meet was an interaction between a number of listeners of the station with the team of Radio Luit.

The programme was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr Mridul Hazarika at the BKB Auditorium. He also expressed gratitude to everybody for making the station a success. An open quiz competition named Quizzeria Grand, with a changed format, was also organised on the same day. The quiz programme was conducted by Nabakanta Baishya, a renowned quiz master of the region. The two-day programme ended with a cultural show which witnessed performances of the GU students, community members as well as by the team of Radio Luit. The performances included dance, song, drama, mime, chorus, classical folk dance, etc.
