GAURIPUR, Nov 4 - The 24th foundation day of Dhubri Gadadhar Kavichakra, one of the leading socio-literary organisations of the district was observed on November 1with a day-long programme on the premises of Dhubri branch Sahitya Sabha�s meeting hall.
Besides other programmes, an open meeting was held under the presidentship of Prof Debendra Nath Sharma, president of the Kavichakra. Ahid Khan Paris, secretary of the chakra explained the purpose of observing the foundation day. A melodious song was presented by Mitali Chakrabarty and her assistants. Prof Debashish Bhattacharjya and Uttam Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Kavichakra for organising such a function. Veteran members, Nirmalendu Sengupta and Dhananjoy Singha were accorded warm felicitation on the occasion. A large number of poets recited their self-composed poems. Among them Sunil Sengupta, Tushar Chaudhury, Zakir Hussain, Ranu Goswami, Pranab Kumar Barman, Dipak Patowary were mentionable.
Gadadhar, the mouthpiece of the Kavichakra, which has been edited by Zakir Hussain was formally released by Prof Debashish Bhattacharjya. The president, Prof Sharma thanked the members of the Chakra and sought their active cooperation in making the organisation, one of the best literary organisations of the State.
