DOOMDOOMA, Aug 16 � Along with the rest of the State, the Doomdooma branch of the Asom Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) observed the 56th foundation day of its parent organisation on August 9.
On the occasion, a meeting was held at the auditorium of the Doomdooma branch ACMS office which was presided over by the branch president and ex-MLA Dileswar Tanti. Addressing the gathering, the president who is also the general secretary of the central committee of the trade union, explained the history of ACMS. He said that since it�s inception, ACMS has been following the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, and it will be followed in the future also.
Former principal of Hoonlal HS School, Doomdooma Jhikananda Borgohain, the headmaster of Rupai High School Prakash Dutta, journalist Arjun Baruah, district programme officer of Asom Sarba Siksha Abhijan Mission Tridip Sarma Tamuly and several other prominent personalities attended the meeting as guests of honour.
In the meeting, 102 students belonging the tea tribe community who secured first and second divisions in the HSLC and HSSLC examination-2013 were given cash awards of Rs 1,000 and Rs 750 respectively.
Earlier in the meeting, the branch secretary Rupesh Gowala welcomed the guests and explained the objectives of the meeting. Hundreds of tea workers from 60 tea gardens under the Doomdooma branch of ACMS attended the meeting.
