GUWAHATI, March 11 � Young Unmukt Chand, the captain of the India U-19 World Cup champion team, said he found an ideal partner in Yuvraj Singh as they both lead the North Zone team a facile 8-wicket victory against Central Zone in the first semifinal of the Deodhar Trophy here at the Nehru Stadium today.
Unmukt was sent by the North Zone team management for the post match press conference and he ably tackled the media.
Unmukt said they were never in trouble while chasing the target and his partnership with his senior Yuvraj Singh made the task more easy. Praising his senior partner Yuvraj, Unmukt said that his confidence level increased as soon as he saw Yuvraj blasting all round the wicket.
Asked about the initial damage made by Praveen Kumar, Unmukt said they had nothing to worry about as they have a tall batting order.
Asked about specific strategy for the final, the North opener said, �The seniors will plan the course of action in the final as the opponent is yet to be finalised.
On the possibility of making it to the senior India team, the Delhi boy said everything will depend on his performance in the domestic tournaments.
Praising Assam�s performance in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy, he said, �Assam was a good team as they defeated some top opponents in the championship. Unmukt opined that the his century against Assam in the final gave him adequate confidence and that was one of the reasons that he performed well today.
On studies, which drew nation wide attention, Unmukt said it is going well.
