Forum for security of indigenous tribes constituted at Udalguri

UDALGURI, June 19 - The Udalguri district committee of Bodoland Janajati Suraksha Manch (BJSM), a social platform for the security of indigenous tribes of the BTC region was formed at the Udalguri district Tribal Sangha conference hall here on June 14.

A general meeting to this effect was chaired by Naren Boro, Headmaster of Rabi Kachari Memorial High School, Udalguri.

The meeting unanimously elected Dr Rohit Daimari, Associate Professor of Udalguri College as its president followed by Kamakhya Brahma and Dijen Chandra Boro as vice-presidents, Surajit Basumatary as its general secretary and Rajib Swargiary and Jayanta Rabha as assistant secretaries respectively.

The meeting on the occasion resolved to meet the concerned authority with a demand to include a member of the committee in the Land Advisory Board (LAB) for Udalguri district. It also held threadbare discussion on encroachment in tribal belts and blocks, besides discussing security-related problems. The meeting decided to submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri district and draw her attention to the security of the region.
