AGARTALA, Oct 22 - Former PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury, who has been on the run for the six days, has been finally arrested by the police after he got admitted in ILS hospitals here on Monday late night.

�Chowdhury who was admitted in ILS hospital�s ICU, has been arrested and is now under police custody. The hospital authority was asked to conduct all necessary tests to assess his physical condition before taking him to police station for interrogation�, said Superintendent of Police (SP), West Manik Lal Das here on Tuesday.

Former PWD Minister�s condition appears normal but his BP is a bit high for which he is undergoing treatment. Chowdhury has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a multi-crore PWD tender irregularity case that took place in the year 2008-09 FY.

Former CM Manik Sarkar also along with some other senior CPI(M) leaders, including Gautam Das and Jitendra Chowdhury visited the ILS Hospitals and inquired about his health condition.

The development came few hours after the High Court of Tripura conducted a hearing on his anticipatory bail plea on Monday night. On Monday, Justice Arindam Lodh rejected pre-arrest bail petition of the former PWD Minister as he has already been arrested.
