GUWAHATI, Sept 19 - A felicitation programme for two retired teachers of Bajali College was organised by a section of students and hostel boarders (1982-84) of the same college on September 15. This was stated in a press release.

Echoing the traditional guru-shishya parampara, the students organised the programme as a mark of respect and gratitude to two of the best teachers of yesteryears Hem Kanta Sarma (retired head of the Department of Mathematics) and Dr Nripen Sarma (retired head of the Department of Zoology and vice principal).

The students met Hem Kanta Sarma at his residents located at Bamunkuchi, Patacharkuchi, and Dr Nripen Sarma at his residence in Barama.

They felicitated them with traditional Assamese sorai, gamusa, bouquet of flowers, memento, etc. It was a nostalgic and emotional moment for both the students and teachers as they met after a long gap of 35 years.

The teachers who were authorities in their respective fields during their days blessed the students to surge ahead and come out with flying colours in their future endeavours.
