Former State footballer dies in Baghjan incident

GUWAHATI, June 10 - Durlov Gogoi, a former player of the Assam U-19 football team and an employee of Oil India Limited was killed in the Baghjan fire incident

yesterday.

A member of OIL�s fire brigade squad, Durlov was on duty at Baghjan and in a bid to extinguish the massive fire that broke out at OIL�s gas well No. 5, he along with his colleague Tikheswar Gohain met with their tragic deaths.

Durlov was a goalkeeper of the OIL team during 2011 to 2016. He joined OIL in 2011 after representing the Assam U-19 team and the Dibrugarh University. He was an inmate of the Golaghat SAI from 2001 to 2004. Originally hailing from Namrup, he started his football career at former international footballer Tasen Bora�s academy. Initially he played as a midfielder before being selected for the Golaghat SAI centre where he started playing as a custodian on the advice of his coach Darshan Gohain. He was a courageous player

and complete team-man.

The Assam Football Association, Association of Assam Football Coaches, Assam Football Players� Association along with the football fraternity condoled the demise. The 37-year old footballer leaves behind his father, wife and a son.
