Former Ranji player passes away

GUWAHATI, Oct 9 - Former cricketer Madhab Talukdar, popularly known as Ganduda passes away at his Uzanbazar residence here today. He was 87. Talukdar, making his Ranji debut in 1956-57 season against Bengal, played 13 Ranji matches for Assam as wicketkeeper batsman. He was an employee of the NF Railway.

After his retirement he served various coaching centres of the city as coach. He was a sports pensioner and was also secretary of the All Assam Sports Pensioners� Association. The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) president Romen Dutta, secretary Devajit Saikia, on behalf of the ACA condoled the death of the former cricketer. Organisations like Veteran Cricket Association of Assam, Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre, Assam Kho-kho Association, All Assam Sports Pensioners� Association, Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association, Kamrup Natya Samity among others condoled the death of Talukdar.

He leaves behind two daughters.
