Former Nagaland CM joins BJP

DIMAPUR, Jan 22 - Former Chief Minister and senor Congress leader KL Chishi formally joined BJP in presence of BJP National General Secretary In-charge of the North-east at a programme held at Dimapur,�on Monday.

He resigned from Congress on January 20.

Veteran politician and Chief Minister for a brief one-month period during 1990s, Chishi said he would contest the Assembly elections 2018 from his former 32 A/C Atoizu Assembly constituency. He won the 2008 Assembly election from Dimapur-I on Congress ticket.

Advisor, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Jacob Zhimomi is also all set to join the saffron party. He resigned from the State Assembly�on Sunday.

Jacob did not state any reason for leaving the Assembly, but BJP sources said he has resigned to join the saffron party. Jacob is an Independent MLA.

So far, three MLAs have resigned from the State Assembly - two from NPF and one Independent. Former Home Minister Y Patton and former Advisor Vikho Yhoshu resigned from the Assembly earlier.

Patton has joined BJP but a source said Vikho is likely to join Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP). The strength of state Assembly has now been reduced to 56.
