Former Dima Hasao BJP prez joins AGP

By Correspondent

HAFLONG, Jan 16 - The former president of Dima Hasao Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Deben Thaosen along with a number of his supporters joined the Dima Hasao unit of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) in the presence of president, Dima Hasao AGP Bakul Bodo, central committee member and MAC of NCHAC Debojit Thaosen, MAC of NCHAC Khawalthang Hmar, MAC of NCHAC Laljoshua Biate and several other AGP workers and well wishers at a joining ceremony held at the office of Dima Hasao AGP on Monday.

With Bakul Bodo in the chair, a meeting was held to accord a warm welcome to all the leaders from other political parties who joined the AGP with the mission to serve the people of Dima Hasao.

Speaking on the occasion, Rupoi Hmar, a former BJP leader who joined the AGP earlier said, joining of former BJP president Thaosen to the AGP fold may be considered a significant development of the regional party in Dima Hasao. She hoped that joining of Thaosen would definitely help strengthening of AGP in Dima Hasao.

Debojit Thaosen said in AGP there would be no discrimination, no disrespect and no suppression. Here in AGP, all are treated as equal. Therefore, all are to work unitedly for strengthening the party.

While talking to the media after joining the AGP, Deben Thaosen said he has observed the activities of the present State BJP leadership. They are not at all in favour of tribal people and also not interested to strengthen their party in Dima Hasao, rather they are very much interested to work only for their own benefit. They can never do any good to the people of Dima Hasao. On the contrary, I have seen that the AGP Government in the past had given more power to NCHAC, and many more privileges were provided to the district of Dima Hasao during the erstwhile AGP regime.
