Former AGP MLA Kusumbar Gogoi held

DIBRUGARH, June 28 � Kusumbor Tairai Gogoi, former Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) MLA and presently the general secretary of the district body of the regional party, was arrested today in connection with the Operation Black Board (OBB) teacher appointment racket from near the office of the Deputy Commissioner here.

The AGP leader was taking part in a demonstration with the party workers in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, protesting against the rise in prices of commodities, particularly fuel, and demanding arrests of the alleged tainted ministers of the State government. Gogoi tried to escape by an autorickshaw but was caught by police. Gogoi was one of the members of the 15-member recruitment board for the appointment of the teachers under OBB in the district, Additional Superintendent of Police Devashis Sarma said. With the arrest of Gogoi, police has made six arrests so far in this connection.
