KOHORA, June 8 - Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma today made a surprise visit to Agaratoli forest range where a rhino was believed to have been killed by poachers on Tuesday evening. The carcass of the rhino is yet to be recovered till the filing of this report.
The basic objective of the Forest Minister�s visit was to understand the situation in the forest range. Brahma was also unhappy that she was not informed by the forest officials on Tuesday about the gun shots being heard.
On Tuesday three cabinet ministers, including Brahma, were having deliberations at Kohora with local representatives. The Forest Minister also visited Arimora to take stock of the problem of erosion.
The Forest Minister also interacted with the members of the Eco Development Committee at Kanchanjuri and visited the police station of Rongbongway in Karbi Anglong district near the Kaziranga National Park.
Pramila Rani Brahma was later joined by Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa.
