By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, Nov 20 - Minister for Environment and Forest, Excise and Fishery Parimal Suklabaidya last night visited the Dholakhal and Lailapur areas along the Assam-Mizoram inter-state border along with DIG Southern Range Dilip Kumar Dey, Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, Superintendent of Police Bhanwar Lal Meena, Divisional Forest Officer Sunnydeo Chowdhury and other officials.

Speaking to reporters along the border, Suklabaidya said that drivers have expressed their unwillingness to enter Mizoram fearing harassment in the name of COVID-19 testing.

The Minister said that steps are being taken for making arrangements in the camps meant for the SSB jawans deployed along the border.

Assam is well aware of its territory and as per the Survey of India map, the border areas are clearly marked. Mizoram will have to retreat eventually and we are not going to budge, Suklabaidya told reporters, adding Assam is always in favour of keeping good relations with the neighbouring states intact.
