By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, July 27 - Minister of Forest and Environment Parimal Suklabaidya has said that specific instructions have been issued to departmental officials to study the affairs of the Kalain stone quarry, which has been in the vortex of controversy in the recent times.

I have had a meeting with the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Divisional Forest Officers of the three districts of Barak Valley to study the ground realities at the Kalain stone quarry. The PCCF should submit a report on the affairs at the stone quarry, the Forest Minister told mediapersons in Silchar on Thursday.

Further, speaking on the launch of the online revenue, e-Procurement, sale and transit system of Forests in the State, Suklabaidya said. The pros ans cons of the pilot system shall be examined in Cachar district for one month and soon the process shall be implemented across the State. We hope that this process shall help to reduce corruption in the forest affairs and detect the foul players as well.

On the other hand, Cachar DFO Sunny Deo Choudhury informed that after the introduction of online e-challan facility, the Department is going to launch e-tendering of forest matters very soon.
