GUWAHATI, Oct 1 - The birthday of �Forest Man of India� Jadav Payeng was observed as Aranya Divas under the aegis of Vande, a voluntary organisation, in the city on Friday.
The occasion was observed as a mark of respect to the conservationist.
On the occasion, Vande, in association with Jazzy and Gims, undertook a plantation drive at various places of the city, starting with the Assam State Zoo campus.
The organisers of the event also urged all individuals, organisations and the government to keep observing the day in a befitting manner every year.
