BISWANATH CHARIALI, April 25 - The Department of Forest, Government of Assam will take full responsibility of three-year-old Raviram Murmu, the lone survivor of the tragic incident in which a herd of wild elephants killed five members of the same family in an interior place at Majgaon, Thandapani under Behali Police Station in the Biswanath district on April 5.
This was announced by State Forest Minister Atua Munda, who had visited the victim�s grandfather�s home on Sunday evening. He also disclosed that a welfare fund of Rs two lakhs would be instituted for the benefit of the child. The minister handed over a sum of Rs 20,000 to his grandfather. He was accompanied by Conservator of Sonitpur, Shiva Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer (East Sonitpur), Rajen Choudhury, Divisional Forest Officer (West Sonitpur), Diganta Borborah, among others.
