JORHAT, Feb 11 - Dr Damrongphon Inchan (Head of the Department of Anthropology, Silpakorn University of Bangkok) visited Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya recently.
A press release issued by the college stated that the educationist was accompanied by Dr Suwanna Kasikum, a researcher in Tai Phake culture in Assam and Dr Pushpa Gogoi, retired HoD, Department of Botany, Dhemaji College, who is also an eminent scholar in Tai language and also recipient of the Sukapha Award 2011.
The guests participated in an interactive session, chaired by the college Principal Dr Munindra Konwar, with the teachers and students of six semester students, the release stated.
Dr Inchan spoke about the affinities shared by the cultures of the North-east region and Thailand. Dr Kasikum gave a demonstration of Muay Thai (Kick boxing) and stressed on the need for self-defence especially for the girls.
