IMPHAL, April 28 � Eleven professional models enthralled the local populace walking the ramp of a mega fashion show with Manipur�s traditional ethnic attires at the Bhagaychandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) here on Saturday night.
The show was awesome in terms of exposing the hidden talents of our designers, said young spectator Y Ibomcha, who came to watch the foreign models. �I�m talking about the design and traditional patterns,� he said.
The mega fashion show held under the banner �Elegance of the Indigenous�, showcasing Manipuri ethnic attires was organised by event director Kh Nishikanta and Blue Wings, an event management group under the sponsorship of Manipur Skill Development Society, Manipur State AIDS Control Society, Manipur Tourism department and others.
Besides four local models, professional models from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Brazil also took part in the show.
For Nishikanta, the man behind the mega fashion event, holding a fashion show with models from abroad to project the ethnic attires besides the handloom and handicrafts of Manipur across the globe, was a dream. Holding such an event is one of my dream,� he said.
