For BPF, voters of BTR are broiler chickens

By Correspondent

UDALGURI, Nov 6 - State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is a star campaigner of the BJP for the forthcoming BTC elections, said the people here have not been able to enjoy their due constitutional rights so far but the ruling party at Dispur vows for sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas with the new set up.

While addressing an election rally at Mazbat town in Udalguri district today for party candidate Dipak Mour who will fight from Panchnoi Serfang constituency, Sarma slammed the Hagrama Mohilary regime in the region.

He mocked at the BPF for considering voters here as broiler chickens that are fed only for business purposes. Hagrama remembers you all during elections and after winning, he treats you as broiler chickens, he said.

Sarma also vowed to make buying and selling of lands in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) transparent for all. We have one engine in New Delhi and another at Dispur, and it is up to you to add another engine at Kokrajhar to run BTR super-fast for speedy and equal development, he added.

Briefing about dozens of welfare schemes undertaken by the state government and different plans on the cards, Sarma declared the Bhai Phota (Bhatri Dwitiya or Bhai Teeka) a full state holiday on November 16 next and in future also, which is a traditional festival of the Gorkha community, symbolising the bond between sisters and brothers.

The senior BJP leader also expressed the confidence that the party would sweep the BTC polls and the chief of new BTR would be from the BJP. The rally was also attended and addressed by state BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass, a few other prominent BJP leaders, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang among many others.

Earlier, the state BJP leaders were accorded a warm welcome by the party workers with a huge bike procession to the venue of the meeting.

The ruling party has intensified its campaign in all the 26 constituencies of the region where it has fielded candidates.
