SILCHAR, Nov 7 - The Hiralal Sharma Memorial 7-A Side Prize Money Football Championship will get under way at the Town Club field on Sunday.
The trophy is being named after father of noted sports organiser and proprietor of Sports India, Chandan Sharma.
Speaking to reporters here, Chandan Sharma, said that as many as 16 teams will take part in the knockout championship. �It is a special occasion as the opening ceremony will witness the presence of some of the members of the 1974 football team of District Sports Association Silchar which won the Senior Inter District football championship. They would be felicitated on the occasion along with five other former players,� Sharma said.
Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul will attend the inaugural ceremony of the tournament, he added.
