GUWAHATI, Sept 26 - The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has closed the foot overbridge at Maligaon for its renovation, retrofitting and installation of lifts.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amanjeet Kaur issued an advisory stating that due to closure of the foot overbridge for repair works, pedestrians will have to cross the road on either side of DG Road instead of the overbridge.
�There will be substantial traffic congestion at Maligaon as a large number of people cross the road,� she said.
�Citizens heading towards the airport are requested to start their journey at least one hour ahead of schedule till the overbridge is restored. Ambulances and other emergency service vehicles entering Guwahati may avoid DG Road from the Jalukbari Rotary and use the National Highway for entering the city,� Kaur added.
