Food Tech Conclave organised in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Feb 13 - In a bid to give a boost to the food processing sector in the district, a Food Tech Conclave was held under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana here today. All matters relating to promotion of food processing industries, such as to create stakeholders� interest, agri-potential available in the region, possibilities of agri food business, new food processing technologies, manufacturing and packaging processes, quality assurance, market linkages were discussed in the conclave along with various Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) schemes.

The conclave held under the aegis of Indian Chamber of Commerce in association with Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India and Dibrugarh district administration, was attended by Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Rameswar Teli, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, co-chairman, Northeast, Indian Chamber of Commerce, Prabhat K Bezbaruah and Deputy Director of Indian Chamber of Commerce, Guwahati, Anuradha Goswami, General Manager of NABARD, Dr PK Maheswari, Senior Technical Officer of CFTRI, Karnataka Dr Pattekhan HH, Professor and Head of Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT) Dr BK Yadav, Senior Scientist and IHBT, Palampur Dr Mahesh Gupta among others.

Addressing the gathering the Union Minister Rameswar Teli said that the Centre has accorded priority to promote food processing industries in the region keeping in view the potential for its development. He said that the Food Tech Conclave is meant to provide a platform to sector players to explore opportunities for farming, sourcing, processing, value addition, distribution and marketing in the food processing sector in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha also addressed the gathering. Senior officers from NABARD, DICC, Agriculture department, financial institutions, tea industry, small tea growers, and organic farmer groups also participated in the Conclave.
