SILCHAR, Aug 11 � In pursuance of the instructions issued by the group of ministers in its meeting held on July 30 regarding implementation of the National Food Security ordinance following the decision of the Central Cabinet ministers, some criteria has been formulated and instructions issued.
According to a Government release, for smooth and timely implementation of the ordinance, 84.17 per cent rural and 60.35 per cent of urban population are within the ambit of the food security facility in the State. The income for urban populace is fixed at Rs 1 lakh.
Further, old, landless agricultural labourers, marginal farmers, artisans, potters, tailors, washermen, electricians, vegetable, fruit, flower and fish vendors, tea and ex-tea garden labourers, all casual workers, HIV and cancer patients irrespective of their income and erosion-affected families etc., are included in the scheme while, MPs, MLAs, Government servants and pensioners, owners of motorised vehicles, small and marginal businessman, doctors, lawyers, Government contractors and suppliers, bank and PSU employees, trade license holders who pay income tax, real estate builders, industrialists, university teachers, college, HS, junior college teachers, high school, upper LP and LP school teachers, shopkeepers and traders and other persons with annual income more than Rs 1 lakh are excluded from the list.
The release further stated that the last date of application in the new FI card is August 16. Applications in prescribed format are available at GP office, block offices, municipality, DC and SDO offices. A designated gazetted officer will be posted by either the DC or the SDO and in the absence of adequate number of gazetted officers, non-gazetted officers and senior assistants will be appointed to oversee receipt of the applications. After receipt, all the applications will be duly registered. Also, the principal secretaries of autonomous councils will also make identical arrangements for receipt of the applications.
Meanwhile, measures are being initiated for strict implementation of the scheme in Cachar district.
