Food distributed to poor in city localities

GUWAHATI, April 23 - Rescuers of 1st Battalion of NDRF Guwahati (Assam) today distributed food among more than 500 poor people in Katamura village, Changsari, in Kamrup district. These people are contractual labourers from different parts of Assam.

Rituraj Hotel of Guwahati assisted in the distribution programme.�A sanitization exercise was also carried out in different parts of Guwahati and its outskirts. The NDRF teams sprayed disinfectants consisting of sodium hypochlorite in public places.

NGO Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) along with Mushroom Development Foundation (MDF) also distributed food items to needy families in Beltola area with the help of city police on Wednesday. SGBG member Sanatan Das and MDF chairman Pranjal Barua represented the organizations along with other members, a press release stated.

The Guwahati Refinery Workers� Union has also come forward to reach out to the people facing difficulty earning their livelihood amidst the lockdown.

Union members with support from the Noonmati Students� Union and Noonmati Police Station distributed dry ration to 100 families of Noonmati and its adjoining areas on April 21, said a press release. They will distribute dry ration to around 400 underprivileged families in a phased manner.
