Focus on safety protocols

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Sept 2 - Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Soundararajan today said with more relaxations in the lockdown measures coming into effect, the immediate focus would be on stricter enforcement of safety protocols in the district.

Highlighting the new SOP at a Dimapur District Task Force meeting held at his office, Soundararajan said normal business activities would be allowed as per the latest SOP issued by the State Government with strict adherence to safety protocols. He stressed the need to sensitise people in this regard.

Soundararajan directed the outpost officers to form committees and enforce the safety guidelines strictly. He also impressed upon representatives of colonies, wards and village councils, and gaon buras to take the lead and enforce the COVID-19 safety protocols. He pointed out that there is free movement between the districts, and that issuing of permits has been discontinued.

Soundararajan said although the number of COVID-19 positive cases has come down, one should not become complacent.

Dimapur Chief Medical Officer Dr Mereninla Senlem said the recovery rate is good in the district. However, one needs to be more cautious, especially during September, she said.

In the meeting, the District Task Force agreed to the regulated opening of shops in New Market and Hazi Park (Hongkong) Market in consonance with the latest SOP issued by the State Government. Regulated opening of the two markets will start from September 4.
