BAIHATA CHARIALI, June 17 - Several places of Kamalpur LAC have been flooded following incessant rains. Besides other streams and tributaries, the Kolazol river is overflowing and has inundated several places of Nanara, Alekjari, Borhata, Jalimura, Nagaon, Niz-Modartola, Piyalikhata, Tuhura and some other villages of Kamalpur LAC .
The flash flood water of Kolazol has inundated Foundation English School campus leading to suspension of classes. The rising water of the river today inundated Kolazol ME and High School campus, Nagaon LP School, Kolazol anchalik Durga Puja pandal and parts of Uttar Kamrup Jatiya Vidyalaya.
Many villagers have shifted their cattle to safer places. The people of the flood-affected area have alleged that the width of the Kumarpeeth guard bund constructed on the Kolazol river is not up to the mark. On the other hand, the public also said that due to earth filling by the Delhi Public School here in a huge area of agricultural land, the natural course of water flow has been disturbed. They feel that the area would remain inundated for several days more.
