Flood waters submerge vast areas in Gohpur

By A CORRESPONDENT

BISWANATH CHARIALI, July 15 The rise in the water level of the rivulet Tupung and the Brahmajan river following incessant rains for the last couple of days has submerged several villages under Tetonbari and Amjaranti gaon panchayats in Gohpur subdivision.

The flood water breached a 25-metre-long stretch of the embankment of the rivulet making the villagers of Bamunbari, Itapara, Jogibari, Garudhoadubi etc homeless.

Around 100 families are taking shelter along the railway line and in a LP school. The spate also washed away a portion of the busy Ghahigaon-Balijan, Arunachal Pradesh road near the Nirmala tea estate.

The Gohpur subdivisional administration has provided relief to the flood affected people.
