DHEMAJI, July 13 - Flood situation is reported to have improved after water level in rivers receded since last evening. Water level of Siang and Brahmaputra rivers are receding and flowing below danger level at Pasighat (Arunachal) and Sissikolghor (Dhemaji) this evening. However, the overall flood situation in the district is said to be grim.
The flood so far has affected over 1.30 lakh people in the district including around 88,000 population in the worst- affected Jonai revenue circle.
The administration has opened 14 relief camps to give temporary shelter to the worst-affected villagers, while several hundred affected families are taking shelter on the river dykes and raised platforms in the rural areas.
The district administration is supplying food and other essential items among the flood- hit.
