KOKRAJHAR, March 7 - The district administration, Kokrajhar recently held a flood preparedness meeting with the district heads of the departments in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner�s office here.

The meeting, which was chaired by Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Partha Pratim Mazumdar reviewed and assessed the flood preparedness of different departments in the district and asked them to take necessary steps to minimize the consequences of such calamities.

Referring to previous flood situations in the district, particularly under Kokrajhar Municipality Board, the Deputy Commissioner asked the chairman of the same to be alert for proper maintenance and cleaning of the drainage system before the onset of the monsoon season.

He also took stock of the flood preparedness done by the departments concerned and asked them to submit their contingency plans latest by March 31.

He further directed the officers concerned, including Food and Civil Supply, Health and Family Welfare departments to keep ready their food stock, doctors and paramedical staff with sufficient medicines. He also asked the Veterinary department to keep enough stock of cattle fodder and medicines. He asked the Circle Officers of Kokrajhar, Dotma, Gossaigaon, Bhauraguri and Bogribari to prepare plans from their sides after visiting the flood-prone areas under their jurisdictions.
