MORIGAON, Sept 25 - The surging water of Brahmaputra has inundated several areas of Lahorighat and Bhuragaon revenue circles of Morigaon district. According to a report, nearly one lakh people have been affected by flash floods in 88 revenue villages.
It may be mentioned here that in July last, nearly 4 lakh people were affected following a breach of Brahmaputra dyke at Tengaguri near Lahorighat. Several PWD roads were also damaged between Lahorighat and Bhuragan .
But due to delay in repairing of the breach at Lahorighat, several villages have now been submerged. Surface communication between Lahorighat and Bhuragaon has been affected. The marooned people have been evacuated to the safer places through country boats. It has been reported that several people in Lahorighat have been suffering from water-borne diseases.
