Flood death toll in State rises to 40

GUWAHATI, Aug 4 - Flood-related death tally in the current year rose to 40 today with two fresh cases of such death reported from the Sonari Revenue Circle of Sivasagar district.

A total population of 1,09,299 is reeling under flood waters in 163 villages under 14 revenue circles in 6 districts, with the Brahmaputra at Neamatighat, the Dhansiri (South) at Numaligarh and Golaghat and the Jia Bharali at NT Road Crossing, flowing above their respective danger levels today, said an ADMA bulletin this evening. � Staff Reporter
