SILCHAR, May 22 - Ahead of the resumption of domestic airline services across India from May 25, Silchar, the second biggest city in Assam, may be disappointed.
As per the circular no.4/1/2020 IR dated 21-05-2020 issued by the Director General of Civil Aviation on the order by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, flights will resume on 384 routes. But Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy expressed disappointment over exclusion of the Silchar airport from the list of airports ready for resumption of flights.
In a tweet, Roy said, �disheartened not to find the name of Silchar in the list of airports for operation from 25th May.�
The MP has requested Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to reconsider the matter since the people of Barak Valley have been waiting to reach home by flights. Roy also tagged the PMO, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh. �Passengers from Barak Valley are disappointed. I shall take up the matter with the concerned department,� Roy told The Assam Tribune.
Ajmer-returned patients discharged: Another four persons who were under treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital after testing COVID-19 positive following their return from Ajmer in Rajasthan were discharged on Thursday after testing negative twice.
SMCH vice principal Dr Bhaskar Gupta said two persons, a Sonitpur resident and another from Cachar, are still showing positive symptoms and shall remain under observation. As many as 526 samples have been collected, of which 323 have been tested, taking the tally of tested samples to 4,542 till now. A total of 11 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment.
80 Assam residents stranded in Bangladesh: The Government has initiated steps to bring back Indians stranded in Bangladesh.
However, Karimganj Deputy Commissioner Anbamuthan MP said the administration was yet to receive clearance. �As per our information, 80 persons from Assam in Bangladesh will be returning home. The Sutarkandi trade centre godown has been turned into a screening centre. Quarantine arrangements have been made at Central Public School in Badarpur. But we are yet to receive the clearance report regarding the contingent,� he said.
